CITY IMPROVEMENTS.

We have pleasure in reporting another addition to the business section of Dunedin in tho shaoe of new fruit auction roome in Vogel street. This building haa been erected to the order of Messrs Thos. Paterson and Co., who have found it ncceseary to erect more commodious and up-to-date rooms for their fruit sales. Tho building is of one storey, plain, but attractive in appearance, and covers a sect-ion 47ft by 82it. This- gives a floor space of 3600 ft, which is also increased by largo platforms running round tho whole building. The walls are of brick, constructed with a view to further extension if found necessary. The roof i«i in one span, so that there are no pillars, and is fitted with a number of large skylights giving amplo light. The floor is concrete throughout, and is laid down with a face to the centre from each side, so that it may he hosed out at intervals! and thus kept clean. Tho offices are exceedingly well laid out, the partitions being almost wholly of glass, giving an tinot»tructed i view of the whole of tho store. The building is very central and in close proximity to the station, railway sheds, and •vharves. Kleetrio light is being installed jy Messrs Turnbull and Jones. The work of construction has been carried out by Messrs G. Simpson and Go. in a most satisfactory manner. Messrs T. Patorson md Co. remove into their new premises )n the 15th inst.
