OTAGO OENTRIv. A meeting of tho Otago Centre. N.Z.A.A.A., was held last evening. Mr William laing oecupiod the chair, and them was a large attendance of delegates. Apologies for uusence were received from Messrs L. Saiulcreon and J. T. Hamann. COUIIKSI'ONDENCE. The N.Z.A.A.A. wrote advising tho centre that owing to the resignation of Mr D. Hawker a vacancy had occurred in the council, and asking for nominations of candidates for a byc-oiection, to be held on a date yet to be fixed.—Mr William Laing was appointed deputy returning officer for tho centre, and Mr J. A. Stables wits nominated as a candidate for election. The N.Z.A.A.A. wrote notifying an intention to mako certain alterations in its rules.—Received; the following motion, which was carried unanimously, to be forwarded to the council-" That this centre object to the deletion of rule 3, clauses X and 0." The Secretary of the Southland Centra wroto advising the centre that owing to unavoidable circumstances it could not participate in tho Intel-provincial Race this soasdn.—Received. Tho Tuapeka A.A. and Harrier Club wroto ro the centre's position with regard to professionals running with amateurs in harrier runs, and asked if tho centre would go to tho samo length in the case of small country dubs, etc.—To bo informed that a proiessional can run, but cannot oompete witu an a-matcur harrier. Tho Secretary of tho Tokomairiro Harrier and A.A. Club wrote asking for permission to hold a. combined ran of all clubs affiliated to the Otago and Southland Centres at Milton on January 3.—Received. The Oaraaru A.A. Club wroto advising that at its sports on March 26 a member (Mr C. Fleming) had broken tho Now Zealand amateur rocord for putting the 16lb shot with a put of 41ft, and asked that the record bo acknowledged.-Received. The Secretary of tho Dunedin A.A. Club forwarded certificates from in reference to the New Zealand high jump record created by C. L. Orbell at the dub's annual sports, and askod that tho samo bo forwartiod to the N.Z.A.A.A. to cnablo the record to bo passed at tho next meetiV ot the _ council.—Roceivod. In this con° nection it was resolved that the judges in the event bo witton to, asking whothor UTbell was jumping with the wind or against tho wind, or in what relation to tne wind, CEXERAL. Four applications for reinstatement as amateurs were dealt with. Letters from several clubs relative to the suggestion to organise a carnival wore rcceivod.-It was resolved in this connection that the question of holding a carnival or an art union be held over until tho next meeting of the centre. , NOTICE OF MOTION. Mr R. G. Anderson gave notice of intention to move-" That the monthly meeting of the Otago Centre be hold the fi«t ihursday in the moillh." FINANCIAL. Tho Treasurer reported a credit balance of hil 4s lid.
