AN ARDUOUS TIME.
(From Oub Own Correspondent.) GREYMOUTH, May 11. All through Saturday and Sunday gangs of men were kept busily employed' at the lyjiesido mine, rescuing as much as possible of tlio machinery. Three shifts have been started on tliu now seam in tho Brunner mine, and it j s hoped to have matters well advanced hero before many days five past. ]n regard to the Tyneside mine » it k calculated it will still bo possiblo to get some 5003 or 6000 tons of coal out and (his work will ocoupy some three or four weeks. In connection with the trouble a groat deal of praise is duo to air K. Allison (manager) and Mr Armstrong (mine manager), and thoir staff for tho excellent services they bavo rendered during a very trying period. From Tuesday to Saturday the two gentlomen named hardly bad their elotJ.cs off. They had an extremely trying ordeal.
