SOUTHLAND FARMERS' COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION.
(Pee United Pkess Association.) GORE, September 5. The annual meeting of the Southland Farmers' Co-operative Association was held to-day, and was largely attended. Mr A. Murdoch,, chairman of directors, reviewed the work of the year in moving the adoption of tho report and balance sheet. The profit and loss account showed, including the net balance envried forward from list year (£I7OB 14s Id), a credit of £4243 13s 9d. which the directors recommended should he dealt, with as follows: Writing off stationery, store, furniture, and plant accounts, £150; provision for bad and doubtful debts, £300; payment of a dividend on the paid-up capital, 5| per cent, per annum, £560; bonus, purchases of shareholders' merchandise, other than com sacks; twine, and manures, 2{ per cent., £540; bonus to etafF, £75; absorbing in all £1625, and leaving approximately £2618 to bo carried forward. One thousand two hundred and forty-nine new 6hares wero taken up during the year, and deposits with thfi society hud increa?sd- to £17,766,
