STOCK SALE.

Messis Dalgoty and Co. report laving held their monthly Hilo at Palmergton on Monday, 2nd inst , when they yarded and sold 420 sheep and 92 head of cattle. There was tbo usual attendance of buyers, and, as the recent rains havo given every promise of a good spring, the demand was keen for both sheep and cattlc at prices in advance of thoro ruling at previous sales in this district. Crossbred ewes, mixed' nge-s, sold for 20s;' crossbred hoggets (small), 15s to 15s Gd; dairy cows, spring. calvcrs, JM to £o 2s Gdheifers,' £2 10s to £4 10s; fat heifers, to £6; calves and yearlings, 15s to £1 9s Gd.

The New Zealand. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report as follows:—We held our usual fortnightly sale ot hides by auction at the Otago Wool and Grain Stores, Lower. Kattray street, on Thursday, when we submitted a very full catalogue, mostly light sorts, but in fair condition, to a full attendance of buyers, who operated with a good deal of animation, late rates bang well maintained. A portion of the catalogue, however, having reserves somewhat too high for buyers' ideas ot va.luc, had in oonsequeuce been passed in meanwhile, waiting further instructions. »Quotations: Extra stout and- heavy ox, CJd to 7d; good heavy do, 6{d to Gd; light to medium do, 4Jd to 5Jd; best stout heavy cow,, 4Jd to sd; light and medium do, to 4Jd; iuferioi and stag hides,, 2d io 3Jd; yearling, 3!d to 6Jd per lb; calfskins, 2s 3d to 5s each. ■ Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows:—Wo held our usual fortniglitly kido sale on Thursday, sth inst., when wo offered a catalogue comprising 301 hides, yearlings, and calfskins to a fair attendance of the trade.
