The 201b limit is n particularly ridiculous one. Last season ccveral sit'glo fish over 201b "in,, weight wore caught in tho Tokaaim district, and under this regulation an angler who caught one such fish. would be liable'to a penalty. Furthermore, if ho caught one fish of 151b weight ho would have to hesitate about making anothor cast, in cfcse he might land a six-pounder, and again he would bo liable to a fine. The -difficulty, however, can bo > got over by tho twining; of local regulations. The secretary of tho Wellington Association says tho local regulations were hold to override the general once, which latter ■wero meant to protect the interests of sport_ in districts where tho local societies had issued no regulations. As a matter of fact, the Wellington Acclimatisation Society for one season issued regulations similar in purport to thoeo gazetted'.under the act last week, but tho provision' as to weight was found to be harassing, resulting not, infrequently in a fishorman'B sport being spoiled after two catches, and by authority ot the Colonial Secretary the local regulations have now been altered to limit the number io2o fish, without regard to vroiqht

At a largely attended meeting of tho Anglers' Club to-night it, was decidod to recommend the council of tho local Acclimatisation Society k> i>yotost aprainst- any 'restriction of catches in the North: Canterbury disrict. The general opinion expressed was that tile gazetted regulations, which proscribed the restrictions, gave to each Acclimatisation Society power to make loeal regulations overriding tho Gazetio ventilations. .
