TEE ANNUAL MEETING.

(Pir Unhsd Pmbb AssooiwioK.) WELLINGTON, August 28. ,Tho anmul moating , of the Incorporated Institute of Accountfluts of New Zealand h being held at Wellington to-day, Mr Vi. Hall Fisher (Christehurcli), the president, i'i the chair.

The council reported that of 83 candidates sent up for the October cxamiita- . tion nino passed as Followe and 26 as Associates. Tho total membership at the end of the year was 248, consisting; of 106 Follows, 81 Assooiatcs, and 31 students. There ie £450 on fixed deposit, Tho expenditure exceeded the income by £46. A motion has been tabled to rescind tho resolution adopting tho term " Incorporated Accountant of New Zealand" as a. distinctive title for members. The council records appreciation of the services rendered to tho institute by Mr W. Brown, of Duncdin, tho president "for four years. _ Mr J. 0. Brown moved that the. resolution providing fov tho adoption of tho term " incorporated acountant of Now Zealand" as a 'distinctive title bo rescinded. After a great deal of discuseion the- motion waa lost. A further resolution was moved regrotting tho tone of a circular issued consequent on si meeting hold in Wellington in May, of which Duncdin and Auckland members are alleged to have had insufficient notice,'and at which tho. above title was adopted. This motion wae also thrown out. A resolution was adopted regretting that tho Accountancy Biil had not been passed, and hoping that a Government measure would be brought down providing for tho registration of accountants and tho protection of tho public. Members wero elected to tho council as follows:—0. R. Bendall DVellington), W. It. Holmes (Auckland), G. W. flulmo (Ohristchurch), 0. B, Smith (Duncdin). M. Silk (Wangamii), M. M'Ctilloch (Napier).
