EMPLOYERS' FEDERATION
THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE.
(Peb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON. August 29. At tho conference to-day the following resolution was passed:—"That it be an instruotion to tho Parliamentary Committee to endeavour to liavotho Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act amended in the following direction:—That tho-jollow-' ing subclause bo added to Motion 84: Any member of tho court wishing to dissent from the majority may do so in writing, and such dissent shall bo attached to the award; that section 4- of the Amendment Act of IGOS bo amended by inserting the word ' court' in place of the word ' president' in the first line; that section 3a of the Amendment Act bo amended by insertinsr tho word 'shall' in place of the word ?'3nav.'"
It was decided in regard to the Woritors Compensation for Accidents Act—"That the Parliamentary Committee take action with tho object of getting clause 2 of 'The Workers Compensation for Accidents Act, 1905,' altered to provide that compensation shall not exceed the amount lost, by the employee through euch accident." The following officers woro elected for tho ensuing term:—President, Mr 11. •Innis; vice-president, Mr AV. G. Foster; troa6uror, Mr F. C. Creasor trustee, Mr W. H. Bennett; auditor, Mr W, C. Stephens; Parliamentary- Committee—The Hon. C. M. Luke M.L.C., Mr Jas. Allen, M.H.R., and Messrs H. Seaton, J. Nicol, 3. Godber, N. F. Markcy, G. 11. Chapman, S, S. Brown, and R. A. Scott. It was decided to g«t a repoj't. of the proceedings of the conference printed for distribution.
The allocatioh for tho ensuing financial year was fixed on the samo tonne as lasl year.
Tt was decided that the head office be in Wellington during tho next 12 months, and. that tho next annual meeting be held in tins city. ■ . The federation to-niglit passed * resolution protesting agauist the" proposed inclusion of clause 19a. in tho Coal Mines Act Amendment Bill. The federation also considered the Amending Arbitration Bill, and decidjd to wait on the Prime Minister and the Minister of Labour to-morrow.
