t WELLINGTON, August 1. ''The Agricultural ihiplbmeni Manufacture Importation arid Sdle Act, 1905," is to bo brought iriib operation. The act was designee! to prevent .the Harvester Trust from unfairly fcdmpcliug against Now Zealand manufactiirers, and ,it provided that on a complaint being made by ttro or more of such manufacturers the Commissioner of Trade and Customs shall siihitnon 'a board to inquire into the matter. If j't Tceommemte that relief should be granted, the commissioner may graht to tho manufacturers ii bbhus not exece'dihg'33 pw cent. A few days .|go representations in tho proper form were made by a number of agricultural, implement makers at ChrisAchurth to' the eomrtiissioriet that the Harvester Trust had been "cutting" prices to an extent which they considered to to injurious to tlieir business, and tho commissioner, at b'neo took steps to Summon the board, .which, under the act, ka to consist of tho presidont of tho Arbitration Court, the president of the Farmers' Union, tho president of the Industrial Association of Canterbury, a person appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of the Trades and and a'person appointed by, the Governor on the rccbraj mendatibn bf tjic Agricultural arid Pastoral Associations. The membefs of tho board eo far are' the president of the Arbitration Court, Mr Justice- Sim;, tho president of tho Farmers' Union; Mr J. 0, Wilson 1 ; tho representative bf tlio Trades arid Labour Couricilii, Mr A. H. Ccdper (Wellington). The president of the Industrial Association of Canterbury is Mr A. W. Beaven, but as He is. ono of the petitioners for an inquiry, ho. will resign. Whoever is apipointed in bis place will sit on tho board, which will moot at Christchurch on August
