WESTPORT'S WANTS.

(Per United Press Association.) WESTPORT, August 15. At a meeting of the Westport Chamber of Commerce to-night a motion was carried that, ill view of tile recently-expressed wish of the Lords of the Admiralty to establish a properly-equipped naval coaling station in the South Paoifio, this chamber urges upon tho Government the necessity for a report by an up-to-date marine engineer on t.lio possibility of the further improvement of tho harboui of Westport. The present plans now completed and designed by an eminent engineer 30 years ago being practi. cally out of date, owing to the enormous improvement in mechanical appliances for dealing with alluvial deposits in rivers and bar harbours.
