DUNEDIN ENGINEERS.
The Dunedin Euginee-ia oil Wednesday evening entertained members and cx-meiubers at a smolio social, and r largo number availed ■tliem'salvus of the invitation, the orderly room being well iillcd. Among those present- were Major Barclay, Chaplain-captain Xisbot, Lieutenant Robinson (Auckland Engineers), the officers of '.he company, ex-Sergeant-majors Bryant, Miles, Jacobs, ei-Sergeants Leyland, Morgan, and Lyders, while a numbsr of apologies were received for nonattendance.
Tho following toasts were proposed:—" ExMembers," by Lieutenant Lacy (who mentioned he was gir.d to we that the ox-members took such a keen interest in die work of tho company, and hoped that even closer relationship should be established by the foundation of an Engineers' Club), and "The Dunedin -engineers" by Major Barclay, who took the occasion to congratulate members on securing the Ladies Challenge Shield for shooting, and also on the tact that iliey beat all the other held engineering companies in the colony in tho competition for the Engineers' Shield, .tie hoped that the good name of the company would be continued, and that the present year would show equally good results. Songs, roCitations, ajid readings made the evening pass very pleasantly, and was brought to a c.ose by the singing of "Auld lang syne,"
