This reduces Mr Deakin's following to 15. TIIK GAMING BILL. A peculiar position has arisen in conncction with the Gaming Bill. The Legislative Council struck out the chmso prohibiting newspapers publishing odds prior to a race, but in a subsequent clauso in its effort to suppress professional tipsters, it inserted a proviso which it is now held prohibits newspapers publishing odds. EARTHQUAKE SHOCK. ADELAIDE, December 18. (Received Dec. 18, at 9.42 a.m.) Au earthquake shock was felt at Beltanii, followed by a heavier one an hour Inter.
