THE WOOL SALES.
Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright. LONDON", July 22. (Received July 23, at 8.40 a.m.) The quantity of wool catalogued to date is 114,410 bales; sold for home consumption 58,000 bales, for the Continent 36.000 bales, and for America 4000 bales; held, 18,000 bales. Compared with opening prices, greasy crosslinks were unchanged, scoured slipes were fully 10 per tent, cheaper, greasy merinos S per cent, cheaper, and scoured faultier wero 7i to 10 per cent, below May rates. Trade prospects seem good, but buyers have lost confidence.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following advice by cable, dated 21st July, from their London office regarding the closing of the July series of wool sales: —
"' As compared with Inst sales' closing rates prices are lower for greasy merino super and scoured merino super bv about 5 per cent., for merino medium and inferior by about lit per cent, to 10 per cent., for erossbrrd slipe .and scoured crossbred by about 10 per cent to 15 p?r cent. Since close of last Sales prices are lower bv {(I to Id for greasy merino lambs and by Id to ljd for greasy crossbred lamb;. The market, for greasy crossbred inferior is weaker. The sales close fairly well this day."
