The annual report oi tho New Zealand Farmers' Dairy Union shows that new shares were taken up simo the beginning of tho yeft'* to the number ot ISO, representing £1200 of new capital being subscribed. Tho result of the year's working is that a larger amount is available for distribution than m any previous year of the company's existence, and this not withstanding that larger advances were paid out each month than last year. This has been brought about chiefly by the better price prevailing both at Home and locally, but also very largely by considerable reductions in tho working expenses. Tho directors recommend that the surplus be divided among those suppliers v.'.io hold the right proportion of shares according to the quantity of butter-fat supplied at. the rate of ?d per lb on the total (or tiie year. The directors, seeing that the high prices rit'ing in London were inducing most other companies to continue shipmng much later in tho year, wisely refrained from following the same policy, and stored a much larger quantity of butter in New Zealand than is their usual practice. The result is tlif.t. owing to the very few companies holding stocks, the ttnion now has the satisfaction o[ selling nearly 100 tons at a price equal to 123s in London. Suppliers to tho Dairy Union will thus reap a considerable benefit by this fortunate circumstance. The quantity of butter manufactured during the year was 851 tons. Tho balance sheet shows a surplus of fItMG. The advances to suppliers tor the voir have bven:—August. September, October, May, and June. 0d; and for intervening months BJd. It has been resolved to pay 10' d for July and August. "GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORTS. Messrs Daleetv and Co.
