At a meeting of Greymcmlli Harbour Board details of the scheme for improving efiippiriff facilities were submitted In- Mr Ronayne, general manager of railways. The proposed alterations moon an expenditure of £40.000. of which £7000 is chargeable to revenue and the remainder to the loan account. The hoard referred Mr Honajnc's scheme to iis engineer, with instructions to report on it at next meeting. Some siati.sf.ics prepared by the board's secretary show the rapid development of Ihe port. Jn 18S5 the export of coal was 08,407 tons. Last year it was 243,705 lons. For the period from 1885 to 1905 tile total quantity exported was 3,257,862 ions. The timber export commenced in 1392, and from that year to 1905 the total'shipped was 193,537,126 superficial feet. The shipments for 1892 totalled 415,320 superficial feet, and in 1905 they were 29,636,617f\, The total revenue of the board since its establishment in 1884 has been £357,900. and the expenditure £533,606, of which £406,765 v;as on harbour works, and £176,841 on interest; and sinking fund. The tonnage of vessels virilimr the port increased from 103.913 in 1535 to 273,106 in 1905. The total since the board was established is 3,310,905 tons.
