The instrument would be too big for tho present organ chamber, and would have to be placed at the west end of tho church. The meeting decided that, if the vicar approved of the instrument on examination, it be purchased, and subscriptions were promised in the room, the I-adios.' Guild also offering to hold a special s.ilo in aid of the 'proposed organ. Tho superintendent of the Sunday School (who had resigned office) wa9 strongly urged to continue .in charge, at least for another year, this being the wish of'all present. The usual votes of thanks to the various church workers were then accorded, after which refreshments were handed round by the ladies.

Sergeant Burrows, who is leaving Waikonpiti, having boon transferred to °Christclmrch, was ontcr'ained ai a farewoll social in St. 'John's Schoolroom on Friday evening. Tlio Mayor (Mr B. W. Fall) presided, and the room was filled with a. representative gathering. In ihe_ course of his remarks the Mnyor referred in highly complimentary terms to the conscientious and satisfactory maimer ill which Sergeant Burrows had carried out his duties daring the cisht and a-half years he had spent in the district, and also to the esteem in which ho and Mrs Burrows were held. After a most successful season the local Dairy Factory mil close on Friday next, 27th inst. About 170 tons of cheese have been made, and although lOd per lb of butter fat has been paid throughout the season the milk suppliers will _ shortly receivo a substantial b:mi3 in addition.
