INVERICARGILL UNDER NO-LICENSE.
(Per United Phess Assooutio?!.) INVERCARGILL, Julv 21. licorgo Bull, Edward Mahoney, and John Hanna were convicted of keeping beer for sale and lined £50 each, in default one months- imprisonment. Tho defence was that the liiiuor, amounting to 45 gallons in 11 days, was ordered for their own consumption. The magistrate said that according to the statement of the accused three men in 24 hours consumed 10 gallons of beer. There had boon concealment, and the story was so wild and improbable that no had i-ot the slightest hesitation in rejecting it. Ho announced that lie would show n 0 leniency to persons setting the law at defiance.
