CASUALTIES.
(Pes United Press Association,)' : ROXBURGH, February 2. An unfortunate accidcnt, attended with fatal results, happened at M'Phsrsoii's coal' pit, Coal Creek, at 4 o'clock oil Wednesday afternobn, a man named \V. Williamslosing his life. Deceased had boon working, at 'a face of coal, when it suddenly gavo ilay, and ho was knocked on tho head by, several pieces, death being, instdiitaneous. Deceased was a married inah, and leaves a wife and four children. An inquest )ieM~ to-day, but was postponed until Friday to allow 'Inspectors Green and M'lntosli to bo present. . ' A child of Mr Robertson, aged about i 8 months, met with an unfortunate' accidout at Gladlirook Station oil Tuesday. A liorsq which was drawing a water-sledgetook fright on liearinpf a traotibri engfino wliistlu, and ran away, tho sledge passing over the child, whoso leg was injured. Mr Marionadvised that tlio cliild to removed to Iho Duncdin Hospital.
