Mr arid Mrs Paderewski were entertained all dinner by Lord and Lady Plunke. at Government Houso last evening.

The'health oi Mr R. T. Wheeler, sen., pausing much anxiety just at present. Mr 'vVhcelcr, a week ago, was attacked wii'a paralysis, .and his condition has become serious.

At a meeting ol the Cavcrsliam Girls' Club, on the ovo of tho departure ot Miss K. M'Leod for Invercargill, tho lady president (Miss Allen), on behalf of tbo members, spoko a few words expressive of appreciation of the services rendered to willingly by Miss ll'Leod, who, a3 one oi the founders of the club, had so ably filled tho officcs or orsanist and librarian. A handsome gold brooch from the club and a silver-mounted puree from the Presbyterian Criurcn choir wero then presented to Miss. il'Leod us tokens of their esteem and good wishes for her future welfaro. A suitable reply was made, and after cheers for Miss M'Lcud a very happy ovening was brought to a termination.

Yesterday alternoon, at Mr Souness's jewellery establishment, Miss Soilness, on tho eve of her marriage, was tho recipient of several very handsome presents. Tho firm's tribute was a gold-mounted purso filled with sovereigns, a full set of table ware and cutlery, and a beautiful overmantel, while the presents from tho staff and workroom consisted of a most useful selection of silver goods. Mr Soilness made tho presentation, and spoko in felicitous terms of tho many years Miss Soilness had been connected with the busiest, and wished her, on behalf of all assembled, health, wealth, and prosperity. Mr E. Bush suitably responded on behalf of tho young lady.'

Tenr.et, who ha 3 represented Messrs Sargocd, Son, and Ewcn on the Goldfields for the past eight years, has severed hia connection with the firm in order to commence business for himself in tho Jforth Island. Hia fellow employees marked their appreciation of Mr Tennet's many good qualities by making him a suitable present on tho occasion of his leaving Diuiedin, and assured him of . their cordial good wishes for his futuro happiness and success in his new venture. _
