M'Calman, of the Egyptian Irrigation Service, and the wedding was fixed for to-day. tfliree hundred presents wore exhibited Ton Saturday, and Mr M'Calman was expected at tho Mansion House, to luucli and dinner. Instead of attending lie sent a letter in tho evening breaking off thq engagement. Ho gave .no explanation, and the intimation cnme'as a cruel surprise. Thero had been no -quarrel. M'Calman has gone to tho Continent.
