THE WINTER SHOW.

TO THE EDITOR. Sin,— Kindly allow mo space to reply to my "Country Cousin." In reply to my letter he states that I must be hard to pleaso if I did not get enough for my money, and then goo 3 on to introduce " shop " into his letter by singling out tho Taieri bay as an illustration of what could bo .shown at this time of tho year, at tho same time asking, "What more could flower-lovers wish for so iato in tho season?" It is very evident from this that this is "Cousin's" first visit to our winter shows. I ran assure him that I am sorry for him, us ho is evidently u lover of flowers from his language. As I said before, it was evidently an oversight of tho management, which they will no doubt sco to next year, and then Cousin " will see that I am not writing for a pastime, but simply to draw the attention of the management to what I oonsidor a Jos to the show. I quito agree with "Cousin" that this is not a flower show, as the flowers are not there for competition, but, as I said before, to lend colour effect and relieve tho stacks of butter, cheese, eto. Regarding tho Victoria liail, I quite agree with him that the exlubits there were beautiful works of art; but with tho works of Nature, thero to intermingle with them they would liavo looked 50 per cent, bettor from a spectator's point of view. Wishing tho society ail suoceis in its good work,—l am, etc., Country Gkowlek.
