Book packets and newspapers at 9 a.m. The above mail will close at the branch Post Offices, North Dunedin and South Dunedin, for money orders and registered letters at 5 p.m. on the loth; letters at 9.30 a..m., and newspapers at 5 a.m. on tho 16th. At the Port Chalmers office at 8.45 a.m. on the 16th; money orders at 4 p.m., registered letters at 5 p.m. on the 15th. Due in Loutlon 16th February. Parcels for Canada and the United States of America will close at 9.30 a.m. on the 15th. Mails for Cromarty, Puysegur Point, and Te Oneroa will close at Invercargill on the 10th, .at 3,30. p.m. Mails for Natal and Capetown, per Aberdeen and Narrung, from Melbourne, January 23. Note.—The postage on letters to Australia will remnin at twopence, letters prepaid one penny will be surcharged. REDUCTION OF POSTAGE. From the Ist January, 1901, the postage on letters and letter-cards 'for delivery within the tolony or for. United Kingdom. Canada, India, Cape Cojony. and practically all other places in the Britjsh Empire, except Australia, will be— for each half-ounce or fraction thereof ]d. For foreign countries rate will remain at 23d, and for Australia- at 2d. PARCELS. Postage on parcels for United Kingdom will, from snme date, be as follows:—For parcels not over 3lb, Is; over 31b and up to 7lb, 2s; over ■ 71b and up to lllb, 3s. ■ EXPRESS, DELIVERY'AND SPECIAL '_ , MESSENGER SERVICES Will also .be established as from Ist January next, The' express delivery will cover letters and parcels not exceeding Sib in'weight, for which an extra fee of Gd has been paid, and delivery will be made on receipt at this and the following offices:—Ashburton, Auckland, Blenheim, Bluff, Christchu;cli, Feilding, (risborne, Gore, Greymouth, Hawera, HokiiiK Im-ercar-pll, Lyttelton, Masterton, Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth, -Oamaru, Onehunga, Palmerston North, Port Chalmers, Thames, Timnru, Wangahui, Wellington, Wcstport. The special messenger service means plocing tt mosßenger.at the disposal of any telephone exchange subscriber on request being inade, and a fee of fld for the first mile and 3d each additional mile up to two miles, or time payment being mode, such messengers may be utilised for running an errand, ordering a cab, ietkja, emßll parcels, or any similar service. ■ ■ • §§(839K, Chief Postmaster.
