The road had been well attended to before winter set in, but as the frost was very severe there, when it thawed the road became very muddy. There was no i material but schist rock or Milestone, and as ■ there was no reserve near, the council, in carrying out the work, v/ould have to pay for the metal, the stone being very hard to break, and it would be difficult to find men to do the work The cost was estimated at 6s 6d per cubic yard.—Cr Clark moved, and Cr D. Ross seconded —"That the report be received, and that tenders be called for the work, cost not to exceed £15, and to be defrayed out of the laud fund."—Carried. The culverts in this Ruling broken by engines passing over them were mostly those that had been put in by the late Deepdell Road Board.
