LIME FOR FARMERS.
; ! ■':■•'.■• TO THEyEDITOR. : Sift,—A few weeks ago it was stated, that farmers were to bare lime carried free by the lUilway department. That means, I presume,, those whose farms are adjacent to the lipet of railway. 'But wh*t about those who live 12 or ■15 miles away ? 'iThey can't' have the'lime delirered free except'the Government carts,it from the railway station. Then why heap flesh en some and make bonea of others? A« a taxpayer I object: to the State doing anything of the kind. Lr-t those benefited pay the interest on the £200,000 that the Hon. Mr Cadmao wanti to build tracks to hold the lime iv, &nd they can have as much as they ' like, but not otherwise. ■ With good prices for their grain, if they get the lime at bare hanlagi prices, (hey will bare no cause to grumble—l am, &c., ' ■ ■ Dunedin, Augmt 23.° • .
