No. 90 Princes street, or P.O. Box 6.. 24au ~ (,': . Dunedin, .' ' ' 22nd August, 1898. >J. JENKINS, Esq., Medical Electrician, Rattray street, Dunedin. DEAR SIR,—I am afraid you have nearly forgotten me' by this time, but I am as good as my word, and now write a statement o£ my case, my object being to give heart to others similarly troubled. I have delayed writing so long because I wished.to satisfy myself that your treatment has resulted in a permanent cure. : ' ' First of all, I should explain that my troubie arose from a knock on the knee by a ram. I was not incapacitated from work all at once, but, though able to get about, I suffered considerable pain for quite twelve months before I was compelled to come to town for skilled medical treatment. I saw three Dunedin doctors, ar;J have no doubt they did their level best for me. They physicked me, poulticed and blistered my leg, and finally set it in plaster of Paris, with the result that my leg stiffened and. shrunk to an alarming extent. I was then advised to undergo amputation of the limb, the charge for the operation being a very considerable figure, with, you will perhaps be surprised to hear, no reduction on account of the reduced size of the leg, which had become no thicker than an ordinary walking-stick. It was now that, with very little hope of cure, I first heard of you, and knowing that I could suffer no more at your hands than I had at the doctors', I mustered up courage to undergo your treatment. What was the result ? In less than a fortnight I had discarded my crutches, and could get along with a stick I After two months, with about 56 treatments, 1 considered myself cured; and now, a year having elapsed, I thank God I am in possession of two perfectly strong and sound legs, and no stick. I have reason for proclaiming my cure as permanent, not only because of lapse of time, but because I have subjected it to very severe tests, having in the course of my occupation as miner swagged it many and many a mile in the neighbourhood of Mount Crifiel, Cardrona, tne Shotover, and Nevis. ' I have not only crossed large tracts of rough country on foot, but climbed mountains and forded creeks (the latter at times in icy-cold weather), and yet I have suffered no inconvenience. I ; Thanking you for your kind, skilful, and unI remitting attention, and hoping that the statement of my cure will reach the eyes of others in pain,—I am, youra truly, JOHN NEVIS ROBERTSON, Lawrence.
