OTAGO RUGBY UNION.

The weekly meeting of the committee ot ! the Otago Rugby Union, held yesterday, was; attended by Messrs Gallaway,. (president), Wilson, .Morris, Campbell, Duncan, Harris, Isaacs, Miscall, M'Laren, Strong, and Hutchison. Intimation was received from the New Zeaiand Union that the disqualification of H. Stalker by the O.R.F.U. had been made general throughout the colony. ...:■■ ' The Canterbury. Union wrote suggesting Messrs M'Robie (Southland), Thomson (Wan-, ganui), Symes (Taranaki), and 'Fache (Wellington), as referees from whom. an official for the Canterbury-Otago match might be selected. —It was agreed to inform the 'Canterbury Union that the committee agreed to the selection of. Mr M'Robje. A telegram -was read from the Wellington. Rugby Union on the subject of the-appoint ment of a referee for the Wellingtqn-.Otaga matchj inquiring whether the 0.R.F.U.----wished the field, of selection confined to VYellington referees or to embrace outsiders.— The Qornmittee decided, to reply that thej preferred ,an outsider; and that they,, suggested. Mr Evans, of Christchurch. , ' : ' : ;A letter was read."from theiNelson Rugby Union stating that it bad: come to .the.conclusion that the game.as.nqw played by. wing forwards, was " a 'menace to good football,. providing a means for rough play and calculated- to bring, the game into disrepute/ and that it had not yet formed any definite proposals on,the subject, preferring to,first. communicate with the Otago Union, on the. subject.—The secretary was instructed to, inform the Nelson Union of the steps which had been taken, and which.were intended to be taken, by the conynittee; on,the subject, and it was also - decided to suggest' to the Nelson Union that it should communicate direct with the New Zealand Union.

: Permission was granted to the Northern Club for the presentation by ifa president' of caps to four, players in its teams. ■ . The Northern Club wrote claiming by default : the match-' last Saturday between its Second Fifteen and the: Alhambra Third.— The letter was referred to the Alhambra CM)/ ' , '' ","' ■:: ■ ' :■-'

A letter from .the Kaikorai Club stating that, owing to the non-attendance of the referee who had beeri appointed, - the match between the Kaikorai Second and Ravensbourne could not bo played last ■ Saturday, was referred to the Referees' Association.

■ A' letter was read from the Pabnerston Club complaining of repeated disappoint-, ment suffered by its members through town teanis:failing to keep appointments made,by them for matches in. Palmerstori, and complaining .especially ■of the- neglect of the Pirates. Second ; to keep a fixttire for last Saturday .^7-It was,decided to write to the clubs' that had,disappointed the Pahnerstpn Club, and a member of the committee undertook to,.endeavour--to ; secure.;that ,a. team should vis.it,Palni'erjton next Saturday. .'The..
