A most* enjoyable evening was spent m the Trinity . Schoolroom . on. Friday, when the Trinity Winter Club (literary department) held its usual weekly meeting. The subject for the evening was " An Evening with Musical Composers." Mrs' Oliver read ft very instructive and interesting paper 'on the "Life Of Robert Schumann," after' which several of his works were excellently performed by the following: — Pianoforte duet, " By. the fountain, Miss M. and Mr J. Hartley; solo, "Two grenadiers (encored), Mr T. Holgate; pianoforte solo (encored), Mr W. Shephard. Another, capital essay was read by Miss E. Hartley on. "The Lifo of Sir Sterndale Bonnett." Several' of his works were then performed as .follow: — Flute • solo " Genevieve ". (encored)'; solo^ Miss Brewer (encored); pianoforte sold, Rondeau a la polonaise," Miss E. Hartley.- . ; '.
