The directors, of the Auckland Co-operative i-Boot and Shoe Company have declared a i• 7 ■ per, cent, dividend. The accounts show a surplus of assets over liabilities of £3141. The profit and loss account1 shows a balance !,of £645. ■• ; ■ -.-■• ■
HAWERA, August 20.
The other night a man named J. Milnar was robbed of a £5 riofe and' some silver, and was assaulted in Hawera by a number of men. Yesterday I^Stanley'Cooper,"Fenni-' more Cooper, A. Hansen, and Spence were brought "up And' committed for trial on the charge. All accused are-well known here.

It was unanimously resolved that this branch learns with regret that a lady journalist'has been refused admission to the press gallery, and hopes thrtt in future" applications for' admission will be dealt with without distinction of sex in accordance with the principles of equality observed by the Journalists' Institute in., admitting both -men and women to its membership. It was decided to forward a copy of the foregoing resolution to the chairman of the press gallery. In th,e course of .the evening the toast of the.institute was honoured,, coupled with the name of the president, Mr G. .Lukin.
