PRESENTATIONS.
At Messrs J. Speight and Co.'s brewery on | Wednesday, Mr C. Speight was presented, on ( the occasion of his marriage, with a handsome piece of furniture as a mark ofthe respect in ( which he is.held by the employees of,the firm.. , Mr C. J\ ■ Greenslade (on behalf of the firm) i and Messrs P. Wilson' and J. Campbell (on t behalf of the-eniploj-ees) wished Mr and Mrs i Spe:"ht health, happiness, and prosperity, and ■ referrred to the cordial relations which existed ] between Mr Speight and those with' whom he , was "brought into contact. The whole of those j present were then invited to partake of the ■ gooc" things provided. In the afternoon, the ' whole of the employees of the brewery were driven in drags to Burkes, where Mr Greenslade . entertained them in lavish: style in honour of the marriage of Mr Speight. All appeared, to thoroughly enjoy themselves, and returned to town by 6 p.m. ' ' The' Wednesday evening • class lor women s first ■'aid,', which,"lias be'eh conducted during the1 winter by Dr Will for the' St. Johii Ambulance Association, was .closed 'on" Wednesday' . evening last- At the finish of the lecture-the-doctor was -presented, with a nice set of carvers in a case, :witJr an,inscription,on aiplate de- ; scriptive o£ the. occasion. -Miss Aitphison, on. behalf of the members of .the class, jnade the presentation in a'few appropriate, words.. The doctor, in thanking them for the token, of their appreciation,' said :he- would value it highly. and it would be handed down to his heirs. He complimented the. class' ou the attention' they had given the lectures, and remarked that they . had been,very assiduous in practice before his arrival each evening.' .... , : . , j
