LEITH WARD ELECTION.
The polling for the electiou of a representative :ofLeith Ward in the City Council, vice, Ihe late Mr C. M. M ouafc, took place yesterday, Messrs E. Howlison andC. G. Ziele being the aspirants for the vacancy. In a quiet sort of way a fair amount of interest was. taken in the contest, both canditUte« ha^iug energetically ctinvnsued the ward, with the result that each wan sanguine of Euocesy. 'Eha ratepayers' roll for the ward contains 1040 names, representing about 1440 votes, but only 857 votes were actually recorded.
