SPORTING.
THE CYCLING TRACKS COMMITTEE,
A meeting of the Dcmedin and Suburban Cycling Tracks Committee was held last evening, Mr Q. Mondy (president) in the chair. A letter was received from Messrs Morgan and Co. intimating that the sample track would be laid when the weather permitted. It is proposed to lay down the cample track between Stuart street and the Lsviathan Hotel with the object of having it tested with the heavy traffic. The Town Clerk wrote stating that the footpath on the east side of Camberiand street and the Anderson's Bay road would be repaired as desired by the committee. The council.had ftlready levelled the railway crossing at the Gas Works. and on the Cumberland »treet footpath. Lieutenant Young, of the Otago Volunteer Cycling Corps, wrote stating that his company had resolved to take part in the projected cycling carnival to be held on the opening of the cycling season. A letter was received from the Otago Cycling Club intimating that, Messrs Jago, Begg, and Crawford had been appointed delegates on the Carnival Committee. The Secretary reported that upwards of £70 have been received, and that numerous subscriptions had been promised. It was resolved that the first work to be undertaken by the committee should ba the tar pavicg of the Anderson's Bay cycle track, for the full width thereof. The secretary was instructed to write to the St. Kilda Council drawing their attention to the bad state of the road at the back of the racecourse. The chairman of the Racing Conference has given official notice that the following additional totalieator permits have been approved by the Colonial Secretary :—Otago' district : Alexandra J.C. 1, Vincent J.C. 1. Wellington district: Lower Valley J.C. 1, TaratabiCarterton B.C. 1. .
