Friday, FEBiroARr 21. (Before Messrs W, Wardrop and C. Allan, J.P's.) y Dhunkbnness.—John Drew pleaded guilty t» - this offence. —Sergeant O'Neill said tha man* was last before the conrt in October. He resided at Waikouaiti, where a prohibition order was taken out against him, bnt he came to Dunedin, where the order bad no effect.—oß was fined ss, in default 24- hours' imprisonment. —Later on Drew consented to a prohibition order being made against him to cover the Dunedin, Caversham, and Chalmers districts. The applicant was Duncan Bnchanan.

Prohibition o.bdeb.—Thomas Edward Shiel applied for a prohibition order against Samuel Shiel.—Mr Thornton said he appeared for defendant, but having only just bean instructed r,skod for an adjournment to the next morning, which was granted.

Stealing Fkuit. — John Fitzpatrick and AValfcer Donovan wore charged with haviog, on the 16th inst., stolen a quantity of plums and apples, valued at 6), tha property of John M'lndoe, of St. CUir.—Both boys pleaded guilty.—Sergeaut O'Neill stated fchafc on Sonday last Mr M'lndoe happened to be absent from home, and on returning found the boys in his garden helping themselves to his apples.and plums. They ran away, and he pursued them, and overtook Fifczpafcrisk, and found fruit in his possession. Mr BS'lndoe did nob desire that the boys should ba punished, but wished that they should be checked, as he had Buffered a good .deal. —The Bench said they had con-' siderable difficulty in dealing with these cases, and did not like to send the boys to gaol. They would, therefore, be convicted and discharged. ' • . ■
