Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Brisbane, February 18. There were on the ferry boat Pearl a kanaka named Mattataable, bis wife, and two children (a girl aged 12 and a boy o£ four). Mattahable was a good swimmer, and when the steamer turned over he took his -wife under bis arm, and with tbe children clinging to hie neck started for the shore. Bat a steamer came on top of him and thrust all nnder the water. Mattahable came up again, but without his wife. The stsamor then '.vent over him again, and ha iost bis daughter, but tbe little boy still clung to his neck. Shortly after the boy too was knocked off, and Mattahable alone of all tbe family got ashore..
