Amusements. TO-NIGHT! JJUTZGERALD BEOS.' NEW LONDON COMPANY, HUGE CIRCUS AND MENAGERIE. FIRST APPEARANCE IN DUNEDIN 1 » THIS NIGHT (TUESDAY). LOCATION: THE RECLAIMED LAND. Acknowledged by the whole of the Australasian Preas and Public to be THE MOST SENSATIONAL, SOUL-STIRKING, AND UP-TO-DATE SHOW Ever Brought to our Shores 1 A few Press Opinions of our London and Continental Stars :— MDLLE. ADELINA ANTONIO. Adelina Antonio performs such feats between heaven and rartu as to lead to the beuef that the laws of gravitation uave no significance for her.— Morning Post. , The most daring act ever seen in England.— London Evening News. LES FRBRES ECLAIR. The contortions of the Eclair Brothers defy description. They are different from what have ever been snen beioie. Only a Frenchman could conceive such a remarkable act as the Demon and Crocodile go thvough. As to the balancing upon his teeth by one of the brothers, it is an exhibition both of strength and skill which it is safu to say is unequulkd by any living athlete.—New York Herald, furia: MAHOMET AND PKOBASCO. Mahomet, the talking horse, is perhaps the most pleasant feature of the programme. A born humorist, Mahomet cau do all that id claimed for him, and he kept the house in laughter aod cheers for over 20 minutes. People in tbe audience tried their hardest to pose him, but he was equal to every omor^eucy, and if it is trickery it could not ba det=ctad, and even as trickery it would be the cleverest piece of horse trickery known.—The Referee, London. PKOFESSOR CHARLES PEART. Up, up, high above the sea of faces to a little platform just below the glaas roof, a man in the costume of a diver is being slowly hoiited. He sett' -i himsclt upon the scanty planking, whilst bent h him the spectators are hu&hed into silent wonder at tbe daring at the feat. Ah !be springs into mid-air, anu ttren, with tbe swoop of a bird upon its prey, falls rapidly to earth. Will he accomplish his self-impused task in safety, or will he crash into the tows of chaiis which hedge round the little tank of water the diver has for his destination? This is the thought which flashes simultaneously through the ruiud of every spectator. An indefinable murmur of relief runs through the gathering, for the diver strikes the water with the velocity of an express, throws up a cloud of spray, and then, streaming with water, he bows his acknowledgments of the applause which greets his successful accomplishment. Twice a day does Charles Owen Peart dive this greatest of all dives.—The Standard, London. LA BELLE ROSE. One of the most picturesque portions of the entertainment is the marvellous swirl dance of La Belle Rose, a graceful and accomplished artist. Nothing better is to be seen, and the dance is a pleasant item of the programme. To manipulate the skirts in a " serpentine" dance is a most difficult task at any time, requiring great judgment, but to perform the feat on a rolling ball is a novelty very taking in its originality. The concluding sensation, when the lady slides on a thin wire from the roof at one end of the building to the stage—suspended entirely by her hair—was enough to take one's breath away, and as she came floating through the air, with the limelight full upon her, she looked like a star in its flightNew York Herald, Paris. THE ALTONS, termed in. the advertisements "The Elite" Acrobats, do not belie" their title. They put in some excellent work, and come as a welcome relief in the midst of so many h&ir-raising sensations. ■ Their work is very cleanly done, and what tricks they essay they succeed in.—The Sydney Morning Herald.
