The motion of M. Rbnasrlte, that at_i inquiry bs held into the aoatharn railway scandal, and that those connected with it ba prosecuted, was carried in the Chamber of Deputies by a majority of ioi. In consequence of this, the Premier, wbo strongly, opposed tbe motion, resigned, and bis resignation has been accepted by the President. The Socialists and Conservatives united and eecared an unexpected victory. Tlie Chamber ot Deputies unanimously decided not to permit its members to participate in financial syndicates.
, .. ■ October 30. M. Lockroy is mentioned, as likely to succeed M. Blbot as Premier. In the event of the failure of the Radicals to form a Miniotry, M. Ribot ia likoly to be re-summoned. The Londoii Daily News declares that M., Bourgeois is the most probable successor to SI. Ribot.

, At the show the draught horses wete a good slot. Mr Small's Lord C.-inley was the be*t aged entire, aud his Bon Glenlie was the three J years champion. Mr J. Small won most points iv draughts. There was a good show of hackney, coach-.n-*, and trotting entires. Berlin's stock-won the prizes for trotters, and Orpheus (tbe German horse) arid stock for coaohera. A capital di-play of' jumping was given by the hunters, Mr ti. B. Rbodes's Mount Conk winning in the heavy-weight and Mr Kemohan-S Ballymena in tbe light-weight class. There was a miserable show of cattle and pigs and farm prbduce, but a large entry of farmers' butrter and home-msde bread The Incboiutha factory beat the Temuka factory in cheeso. There was a good show.of impte.i.'.nts, springtime cultivators aod improved t-ced and m&buro drills receiving special attention. The weather was five, but the atlendaocs wes cot equal to list of previous years.
