(Pkb United Peess Association.) Auckland, August 19. Yesterday another beast took bad at Ohaupo. Inspector Ross went up and found it dying. More pigs have died. One man is dangerously ill, supposed to be from blood-poisoning. At a meeting of the Auckland Trades and Labour Conncil, the delegates' report on the proposed Labour paper was that the council did nofc see its way at present to entertain the idea. H.M.S. Goldfinch, from Noumea, put into Mongonui on Sunday, owius: to heavy weather on the coast. She is bound for Auckland. At the annual meeting of the Aucklaud Cooperative Boot and Shoe Company, the report submitted was sati»faetory. A bonus of 2£ per cent, was voted to the employees. Ifc was ! resolved to increase the capital irom £1000 to £6000. •;■• ' . Napier, August 19. Mr H. C. Robjohns, a well-known merchant, is dead, aged 76. He arrived at Napier in 1859. Wellington, AugUßt 19. Thomas Nestor, constable at Eketahnca, was charged at the Magistrate's Court with perjury by swearing he had served a summons personally. The defence was that he had served the document on an. agent, aud made an affidavit as to personal service, which the defendant admitted- was a mistake. He W3S committed for trial. Two kds, Brown and Conroy, who have already been several times tried at this session on various charges, were found guilty to-day of receiving property knowing it to have been stolen. Sentence was deferred. In the Supreme Court trisl of B. F. Davy, charged with applying the Wertheim trade mark to a sewing machine, the prosecutor applied for a postponement of the case till ncsrt session owing to' the absence of material witnesses. Mr Jellicoe strongly objected, but the Chief Justice granted the application. Chkistchurch, August 19. At the Supt erne Court to-day tiie case of F. Scott y. J. Whiter, jua., both of Swaanauoa, au aetioii to recover £200, damages on aceouut of the seduction of plaintiffs daughter, was heard before Mr Justice Denniston and a common jury of four. The jury found for plaintifl: for £100 damages. At a meeting of the Harper Memorial Committee this afternoon tbe proposal of Bishop Julius that a cenotaph, with a recumbent figure of the late bishop, should be placed where the vettry was situated was adopted.
