THE EL DORADO DISASTER.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Melbottsne, August 19. Tha inquest on the victims of the El Dorado mining disaster has been opened. The only information of importance elicited so far is that three days prior to the accident there was a slight inrush of slum. Thompson, one of the victims, was instructed to erect a barricade. According to the directions he received, the centre prop should have been sunk in tbe ground 18 inches, bnt he sank it only three or four inches, although he told, the captain of the shift that he had sunk it 18 inches. Morrison, Thompsons- assistant, subsequently asked Thompson why he had. misled the captain, but the latter retorted. "Mind your own business," adding that there was no danger to be feared. Morrison, being an inexperienced man, accepted Thompson's statement, and was afraid to inform the captain of the shift, because to do so would be jto make trouble. Morrison caw the prop I swaying at 3 o'clock on the morning of the i accident, and „told Thompson of it.
