': In acknowledging the welcome given him by the Wellington Bowling Gliib (ssya the New Zealand Times), Mr J. Paul, of New Plymouth, mentioned that in returning .by way of the south from Australia he ha'a conferred with some of the bowlers of Dunedin and Chriati church en the subject of arranging for ?a-. periodical ■inter-isiattd bowling" match. He said the bowlers in the'south were quite ripe for such a fixture, and all that was needed wiiathat the Northern and Southern Bowling Associations should make the necessary arrangements. As for, the Australian tour, the, Australians talked of returning the visit just paid them by sending a team to' compete at the Nori-hern Bowling Association's tournament to be held in Auckland at Baßter next. The matter had not been lost sight of in Wellington; and during the recent Easter tournament it wss intended to have had such a match, but the breaking ef the weather defeated the intention. A serious collision between two racehorses, Perkin and Napper, occurred at Gisbirne Park. Napper, it is alleged, was being exercised .the reversa way, and at the turn ran into Per kin, which was ridden at full gallop. Napper had his leg broken, arid had to be Sbot. Perkin was injured' across the loins, and it is doubtful whether he will be able to race again. Reedy, the rider of Napper, was seriously injured internally, and has been taken to the hospital. Suff, the rider of Perkin, was also much shaken, and has had to lay up.
