UNION STREET SCHOOL PICNIC.
[ Favoured by exceptionally, good / weather, the picnic of ths Union, .street School was a. great success yesterday. It is. estimated that. 1200 parents, friends, and children attended the out* in». The efforts.of the committee, dircct-d by Mr 6. 0 Israel (chairman), with the assistance of the head master (Mr A. Stewart) arid teachers, who devoted most diligent and ungrudging service in carrying ou the major part; of 'the day's pleasure, rt-sulti-'d in a most complete success. Warrington, the place chosen for the picnic, proved to be suitable iv every respect for such an event, affording as it does various interesting conditions of rocky haach, sea shore, and clump, of bush, together with .'elightful views of laud and ocean. Anyone would, indeed, be hard to plesee Who could not pass a'pica, ant time there in such perLct weather. Sports and pastimes usual to these trips were-plentiful, aud were'thoroughly enjoyed, and it is a source of satisfaction that the sea-breeze appetites were supplied from the wellfilled gaskets carried down, md that, the tea supply arrangements wero cijual to an extraordinary demand. All the school committee attended, and they unite iv expressing their great satisfaction at the careful and Mikity supervision of the guards in charge of the train. Third SUndard.-Nellie Kelly, Nellie M'Lennaa, Paterson. Pollock (first prizes), Minnie Froude, Bella M'Kinlay, Foote, Knox, (second prizes): *.''.' Fourth Standard.—F. Galland, T. Johnson (first priz-.s), M, -kfoore, H. Trinder (second prizes). Fifth Standard.—Janet Brockie, S. AngelKfirst prizes), L. James, A. Rippin (second prizes). , Sixth Standard.—Lizzie Davis, Fr-id. Harridge (first prizes), Lucy Megget, F. Martinelli (second prizes). Seventh Standard.—J, M'Kenzie, .1. Permin (first prizes). . ."
