CITY COUNCIL REPORTS
The following are summaries of the reports to bo presented at the meeting of the City Council to-night:—
Thd Works Committee report having instructed tbe city surveyor to act at a cost riot ercn.ediug £10 with reference to Mr W. Bull's application for reraovnl of a bank of earth from the street in front of his property, Dowling street, and to ant at a cost of £12 with reference to th» letter from Messrs Keill and Company (Limited) and others an to tho condition of the channel on tbe east side of Crawford streat and round into Water ntreet. The committee had referred Mr O. Morgan to tho dust removal contractor with reference to hin suggestion to have a "tip" for the dustcarts established in tho vicinity of the Victoria Baths, at the foot of Frederick street.
The Water Committee report having granted a requisition for sundry tools and stores for the Kilvtr«treaui waterworks, costing £11 10s. The following tenders hud been accepted for the year oommeDcing tho Ist April nest: — Supplying csrlain labour and materials, Messrs A. and T. Butt, at schedule prices; carting— Me3(>rß J. Duthie and Co., at schedule pricoj, subject to a slight amendment recommended by the city surveyor. Tha R««orves Committee recommend that Mr A. Jiiger'H grazing tenancy of allotments 52, 55, 55, and 59 <:f section 6, block VII., Town district, held by him during tha pleasure of the council, bfl cancelled at his request; that Mr S. Smith's oiler oJ £5 per annum for tenancy of stable on allotmr-uts 39 and 41 of auctions 1 and 2, block IV, Upper Eitikorai district, bo accepted during the pleasure of tho council; that Mr D. W. Woods be appointed to act as valuator on behalf of the City Corporation in respect of tha valuations required to be made in accordance with the provisions of the lease to William I'idler of part section 18, block XV, town of Duuedin, which expires on the 25th of July 1895 ; and that tenders be invifced for a Zl years' building lease of allotments 4-8 and 50, aubdivision of sections 1 and 2, block IV, Upper Koikorai district, subject to payment by the successful tenderer of £G0 for the house and stable on the land, as requested by Mr Sim Edwards.
The Finance Committee report having passed for payment accounts amounting to £672 10s 4d.
The General Committee recommend that the matter of providing sanitary conveniences at the Botanical Gardens be rpferred to the Referves Committee; that the 15-in pipe drain through Mr Siuclair-Thomsou's property be continued through Mrs Fulton's land to Lees street, at a cost not exceeding £12, provided all the drain pipe 3 from private properties in the block bo connected with the pipe sewer in Lees Btreet; and the cc?spits filled up ; that tho town clerk communicate with the suburban boroughs where no fire brigades exist, setting forth that the City Fire Brigade is occasionally called to attend fires outside the city boundary, and that the practice cannot be followed in future unless thesa borougns guarantee the actual cost; and that the Fire Brigade accident policy be renewed with tha New Zealand Accirieut Insurance Company for the ensing year. Tho committee report having accepted Mr David WilUie'o tsuder for supplying a horse aud driver at tho Great King street lire station at 7s 6d each call by day and 103 each call by night.
