The amount of customs revenue received to-day on goods cleared for consumption was £96214s lOd.
GORE STOCK SALES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Invercargill, October 9. The J. G. Ward Farmers' Association report that there was a very large nntry of sheep but few cattln at the Gore fortnightly stock sale to-day. Hoggets comprised the greater portion of the entries in the sheep pens, but comparatively few found buyera. To effect sales vendors hart to submit to a ls to ls fid drop on the prices ruling at the Same yards a fortnight ago Pries varied greatly for hoggets, according to quality, some culls selling as low as ss, others fc's lOd, Ss, 10:1 j-j, and one large pen t» very superior lot) at Ws -.d. Ewes with lambs sold from 10s Bd to 13s 3d. Ihe recent frosts, which are still keeping the grass backward, are largely accountable for the dulness of trade in stock and low prices.
