Raports have been, received here that the Japanese troops have captured Chefoo, on the csast of China, The main body of ths Japanese force is encamped on the north bank of the Tain river, and a battle with the Chinese is imminent.

The St. Petersburg press is; urging Japan to annex Southern Corea, in which case Russia will take the1 northern portion, including Lazareffi and Georsun, ports wbich are Dever blocked with ice. The papers also suggest tbat while: they are about it the Russian Government should also annex Kuldja, Mongolia, and Northern Manchuria. Italy has sent a cruiser to China.
