GOLF TOURNAMENT.

CiißisTcnuiicn, July 20. Tlia champion golf meeting was continued to-day in miserable weather. The amateur championship of Now Zealand was won by H. MacNeil (Otago), who beat J. R. Scott (Otago), 7 holes up aud 6 to play. The handicap over 18 holes was won by J. U Wilcoii (Christchiirch). V. Fryae (Hutt) ana D B Howden (Hutt) tied for second plitco.

The final of the Golf championship between Mac Noil and Scott, both of tho Otago Golf Club was playf.d this afternoon. The weather was cold nnd bleak, with a strong breeze from the south-west. The result was an easy win for MacNeil by seven up and six to play. Scott had plajcdn vtry good round in the forenoon for the handicap event, but from some cause or other seemed to go off in the fina!._ MacNeil showed good judgment in not playing in the handicap. Starting fresh ho played with great determination throughout, his driving being probably the most noticeable feature of his play. Uwing to the r.iin last night the green was beavy, and somo short putts on both sides failed to reach the hole. The handioxp event \v.i3 won by Wilson, ot Chriatchurcb, with a capital round of 85 (87—2) D B Howden and D. Pryde, both of Wellington, tied for second place with 88 each (92—4) au d (94_6).
