THE DUNEDIN BURNS CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Dunedin Burns Club was held in the Choral Hall on the nighfc of the 22nd. Mr A. J. Burns, president, occu" pied the chair, and there were about 100 members present. The annual report which was submitted to the meetiDg was adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Mr Muir proposed-^" That Mr A. J. Burns be re-elected president of the club for the ensuing year." The Chairman said it was impossible for him to accept office this year. The Hon. Tiiomas Fergus gavo notice that he would move at a subsequent meetiDg that rule 4 of the club be altered, so as to admit of the appointment of the chairman as patron and honorary president of the olub. The election of officers was then proceeded with, the following being elected :—President, the Hon. Thomas Fergus; vice-presidents, Dc Steuhouse and Mr W. Brown ; secretary, Mr I James Brown; treasurer, Mr James Gibson; committee — Messrs J. Christie, Alexander Wright, John Gillies, A. B. Davie, S. N. Brown, J. B. Thomson, J. Cooper, James Muir, and Dr JefTcoat. On the motion of Mr S. N. Brown, seconded by Mr J. H. Morrison, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring office-bearers for their services to the club during tiio past year. The Chairman said that Mr Brown (tho secretary) certainly deserved something more than a vote of thanks.—(Applause.)' The matter had been discussed by the committee, and they suggested that some little thing should be given to him in recognition of his services as secretary. Mr J. B. Thomson moved —" That the chairman, the president, and the two late vicepresidents be a committee to make a suitable presentation to Mr Brown, to the extent .of 10 guineas, out of the funds of the club." Mr J. Gillies seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously.
