OTAGO CRICKET ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the General Committee of the Cricket Association was held on Tuesday evening at Wain's Hotel, and was attended by Mr Jas. Allen, M.H.R. (president), and Messrs Harper, Kemplen, Clayton, Gooch, Findlay, Ringer, Rattray, Smith, and Smyth (hon. sec.) The hon. secretary of the Albion Cricket Club wrote notifying that the motion discontinuing the professional's services, carried at the club's annual meeting, had been rescinded at a special general meeting, and it was decided • that the services of the professional be continued during the present season. —Received. Letters from various clubs regarding cup contests were also read and received. It was resolved that Senior and Junior Cup matches be played throughout the present season. The sub-committee appointed at the previous meeting to draft cup rules, submitted a list of rules, which, with amendments, were passed, but confirmation was deferred till the next meeting. Messrs Clayton, Gooch, and Smith were elected a Gup Committee, to have control of both senior and junior competitions. Mr Rattray moved—"That it be a recommendation to the Cup Committee that cup matches commence the first Saturday in November." Mr Ringer seconded the motion, which was carried.

It was intended by the Carisbrook Cricket Club to open their season next Saturday, but unfortunately the recent rain has reduced the ground to such a sloppy state that it has been found necessary to postpone the event until the following Saturday, the 29th inst., when it is hoped that all members will put in an appearance. Should the weather keep fine, practice will be held next Saturday, and during the following week, so that members will be able to get into form for the opening day, when it is proposed to play two matches between teams selected from the club members.
