HOSPITAL TRUSTEES
The ordinary meeting of the Hospital Trustees, held yesterday afternoon, was attended by Messrs P. Miller (chairman), J. Robin, SMyers, W. Wright, J. N. Brown, W. Wells, J. Carroll, J. Green, and H. Clark.
ItEPODTS. The Finance Committee reported that salaries and accounts amounting to L 546 11s were passed for payment. The receipts for the month of August were as follows :—ln-patients, LAI 8s; out-patients, L 5 16s 8d; voluntary contributions, 10s; H.M. gaol (medicine supplied), L5 Is ; donation, 2s ;—total, L5217s Bd. There was also a donation of L2l from the Otago Rugby Football Union, which was placed on deposit receipt to the credit of the children's ward account. The receipts for the present month up to date were as fo'llows:—ln-patients, L22 11s; out-patients, L 3 10s; donations, 3s 6d; sale of dispensary bottles, 17s 9d; Russell Trust, Ll6 16s 8d ;—total, L 43 8s lid. The bank pass book showed a credit balance of L 126 6s lid; unpresented cheque, Ll4- 16s 2d ; cash in hand, LI 3s ;—total credit, Lll3 3s 9d. Application, the committee reported, had been made to Government for subsidy on the two sums—L42 19s 9d and L2l—received on account of the children's ward. The balance sheet for the year 1891 had been received from the Audit department, with remarks of the Auditor-general in reference to the LSOO subsidy on the Campbell bequest received from the Hoppital Board.—The report was adopted. The Building Committee reported that they had agreed, on the recommendation of the architect, to the plaster work of the new pavilion being carried out by Mr.Newman. The following payments had been made since last meeting :—Mr R. Meikle, L 760; Mr A. Morrison, Ll2O ; and Mr G. Armstrong, Ll4. The first grant of L 4-000 had been received, and the sum of L 3565 had already been paid, leaving a balance of L 435 to credit.—The report was adonted.
The House Committee reported that repairs had been effected in the cooking arrangements of the kitchen, and that the roof of the back tower had been recovered on three sides with corrugated iron. The committee had adopted a printed form particularising the progress of the probationer nurses. This form would be made as a bi-monthly report. Mr W. C. lies had tendered his resignation as warden owing to ill-health, which was accepted with, regret, and Mr Thos. M. Shepherd had been appointed in his stead. The salaries of the laundress and assistants had been reduced by L 5 each.—The report was adopted.
