(Received March 30, at 8.40 p.m.) The court to-day, at the instance of the trustees of the Marquis of Stafford, son and heir to the Duke of Sutherland, granted an injunction restraining the Duke from cutting timber on his estate, Trentham Hall, Stoke-on-Trent, in Staffordshire. COLONIAL ADMINISTRATORS. March 30. (Received March 31, at 0.45 a.m.) The Times says it is not surprised at the unsatisfactory condition of Victorian and New South Wales railways, and other abuses in the administration of the affairs of those colonies considering the class of the bulk of legislators and the peculiar character of the constituencies. COMMERCIAL LEAGUES. In the House of Commons to-day Mr Balfour, replying to a question asked by Mr Howard Vincent, said that the self-governing colonies of the Empire were free to form commercial leagues among themselves, and Great Britain could only become a party if they gave the Belgium Zollverein similiar treatment. BISHOP VAUGHAN. Rome, March 30. (Received March 31, at 0.15 a.m.) His Holiness tho Pope has overridden Bishop Vaughan's wish to remain at Salford.
EMIN PASHA. I Zanzibar, March 30, (Received March 31, at 0.45 a.m.) News has been received that Emm Pasha, who has reached the Equatorial provinces, fought a successful battle against the natives. The latter were commanded by his old officers, whom he captured and shot. INFLUENCE OF CATHOLICS. Berlin. March 30. (Received March 31, at 0.45 a.m.) . The influence of Catholics secured the rejection, by a large majority, of the proposal which was before the Reichstag to grant two million marks with which to build a corvette. PRINCE BISMARCK AND THE EMPEROR. Prince Bismarck assured his visitors that the Emperor is offending all parties and making peace with none, and they yet may see a repetition ot 18*8, and the Emperor compelled to flee from rioters.
