LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS.
(Per United Press Association.)
Wellington, February 2.
Referring to the question of Legislative Council appointments, tho Post says it has good authority for stating that the Governor has promised Ministers to make 15 appointments to the Council. The names will be submitted on his arrival in Wellington. The list will almost certainly include Mr Fraser, but not Mr Jellicoe. The Premier, on the other hand, assured an interviewer to-day it was as likely as not that the names would not be submitted to Lord Onslow at all, but to his successor. The Government , had absolutely come to no determination as to the names, but the number would be considerable —very likely as many as 15. Among these would be a proportion of Labour representatives strictly drawn from the ranks of the actual working class. A Liberal Association is in course of formation here.
