[By Electric 'Telegraph.—Copyright.") (Per Press Association.) THE PROHIBITION OF SHEEP IMPORTATION. Sydney, February 2. (Received February 3, at 1 a.m.) Mr Connell, an Oamaru (New Zealand) resident, has interviewed Mr Bruce, of the Stock
department, relative to removing the embargo on the importation of New Zealand sheep into New South Wales. Mr Bruce replied that he was communicating with the New Zealand Government on the subject. The cessation of the prohibition was of special importance to New Zealand in view of a subsidy being granted for meat export in New South Wales rendering necessary the importation of rams for cross breeding jiurposes.
ANOTHER SUSPENSION. The St. Joseph's Society has issued a circular to depositors suggesting a suspension of payment for three months, and that payment of largo deposits be extended over five years at easy instalments. Tbo directors state that the society is in a sound position, but that the assets are unrealisable, a state of affairs brought about by the recent financial panic
