A young man named Whenua, 18 years of age, was lost on Friday night on the coast from the cutter Fearnought duriug tho trip from Oape Colville to Auckland. James Andrews, who for the past 12. years has been a messenger for the Bank of Australasia, committed suicide to-day by taking strychnine. It is believed his accounts as treasurer of a friendly society were short. Welhnoton, July 21. A man named Isaac Priest, who left Pahiatua for his home in the Wellington settlement block on the 18th inst., is missing, and it is feared he was drowned in crossing the creek with his horse and provisions. The horse has been found, but no trace of the man, Oahabu, July 21. John Johnston, for many years hotelkeeper at Waitaki South, committed suicide by hanging himself to a beam in his stable this morning. He has been drinking heavily,'and was in financial difficulties.
